What is PROZONE?
Prozone is an independent company providing football clubs with a hi-tech system which gives detailed analysis of players' performances.
It is a tracking software using nine cameras strategically positioned around the stadium covering every part of the pitch
All 22 players are covered by Prozone monitoring every tackle, pass, shot and header aswell as movement on or off the ball
Prozone measures:
- Total distance covered
- Movement
- High intensity runs
- Speed
- Top speeds
- All on or off the ball
Information is then downloaded from every game, sent to Prozone head office, processed and returned to the club 24-36 hours later. When viewing the results, it is important to remember there are variables that may distort the analysis of the player or team. These variables can become manageable when they are compared with past results data and by confirming tactics with the manager or coach. These variables are:
- The players - it is not correct to compare a 20 year old with a 35 year old football player or a midfielder to a centre half.
- Mental attitude - playing for a winning or losing team or lifestyle problems.
- Weather and pitch conditions - wet or dry football pitches.
- Match situation - slowing the game down if in front or going all out attack when needing to score a goal.
- Tactics - Different tactics are usually employed by the manager or coach when playing at home or away football matches.
- Time of the season - Team's performances sometimes dip if nothing to play for or already relegated towards the end of the season.
- Match schedule - Playing two or three games in quick succession, usually around christmas time.
- Possession - The team that has less possession in a game tends to do more running than the team who have the ball more.
- Unbelievably, kick-off time (8pm instead of 3pm) can sometimes have an effect on physical performances.
